Does a child under the age of 1 year need a passport to travel to/from the US to the UK?

I see rules for obtaining a passport for children under 14, but I've heard it is not necessary for infants.

from what i have heard - 2 pieces of photo i.d. or government i.d. but why not get one for the child anyway - then you are protected and will not have to go through the process in laters years

in all most on all flights - infants, lap child (lap babies who sits with one parent,) will get special treatments; many airline will preboard the family and seek out their special needs in advance. there are also various location on the plane where the baby bassinet is allocated for special seating, too. flying international is no exception to the rule; and it applies to flying with proper valid documents as well. many european passport has all the children's photo in the mother's passport but its not so in the united states. many parents tend to forget a lap infant needs a ticket to fly as well. in the age of ticketless technology, bare in mind many lap babies who do not occupied a seat will also required a physical paper ticket at time of check-in. but this applied to international traveling, only. feel free to contact the airline of ur choice for additonal information.
