Flying cross-country with a 2 1/2-yr-old boy - Travel tips?

We live in Seattle and my 95-yr-old grandmother lives in Tampa. She is in frail health, and it would mean a lot to her to be able to see our son, whom she has never met. This means we have to get a busy, active boy from Seattle to Tampa - Hopefully with as little drama and stress for everyone (our fellow fliers included). It has been a long time since either my husband or myself flew across country. Plus there are all the new bag regulations and policies about what you can and can't take. I'm looking for some really good flying tips for traveling via air with toddlers. Any good ideas out there or lessons learned that could be passed on? I am looking specifically for things related to current air travel. Also, I really don't want to be referred to any travel websites, if that is okay with you... Thanks!

Oh boy that sounds like it might be trouble! A portable DVD player works wonders on flights. Also a small pillow. Try to find games to keep his little mind occupied during the trip. Maybe bring an I Spy Book to play with.

Bring some games, and toys to keep him occupied:D
