I'm planning this trip for the end of 2009 with 2 of my cousins. We're all in our mid 20s and we'd like to have heaps of fun but at the same time we're on a budget. I'm looking into budget accomodation since we'd like to spend on the activities and food in store for us. Please help me out if you have been to the GC. Thanks heaps!
stay at clubsurfers... clubsurfers.com.au Cheap as chips and really lovely managers heaps of cheap as shopping on Cavill Grab discounts from RACV or whoever your motoring company is, they're about ten dollars cheaper. My advice is to grab the $10 extra day upgrade at Dreamworld, there's plenty to do there. I've used both shuttle buses and cars, driving is easier and you don't have to hang around waiting for buses.
you might also finder cheaper accommodation at the southern more beautiful end of the coast: Coolangatta, Greenmount, Kirra. the beaches are better down there, and you're just that bit closer to Bryon Bay, which you'll surely want to do a day trip to? Maybe consider spending 3 days exploring the wilder beaches of nthn NSW, hire a car with friends and just drive?
there are heaps of backpackers joints around, a lot of fun on a budget and you get to meet heaps of interesting characters. you just have to walk around to find one. depending on how long your staying, hire a car wickedcampers.com.au do awesome deals for cheap and its way easier than catching the lousy public transport they have here. it's easy to spend a lot of money in surfers, everything from clothes to groceries is more expensive because they know a lot of tourists will pay the money, so once again a car is handy if you want to pop out to harbour town (outlet shopping) in biggera waters about 15 minutes north of surfers. but my advice spend the days either on the beautiful beach getting a tan and perving on the hotties, check out the theme parks (you can get a three day pass for movie world, sea world and wet n wild, it's a pretty good deal) or go shopping, but not in surfers check out harbour town or pac fair instead, and the nights in the clubs. They're open every night and usually get a good crowd no matter what day of the week it is.

| What is the independent travel which I plan and I realise? - Independent travel for me it: independence, a freedom in choosing and decision-making. It is responsibility which lies on me and only on me.
