We are looking for things to do during our road trip to visit the grandparents in Florida. We have children ranging in age from 2 to 17! This is a trip we will be taking for many years to come! Any tips, hints, clues as to how to make this bearable will be appreciated! We will be traveling on a low budget... looking for inexpensive but safe and clean motels... and eating food we bring in our cooler! We will need some fun diversions along the way... Thank you!
South of The Border is the biggest one at the border of North Carloina and South Carolina.
Philadelphia, Washington, DC, Alexandria, VA, Richmond, Va - the list goes on, and most attactions are free. I suggest that you go to and run a TripTik - it will show you motels, tourist attractions, places to eat (in all price ranges).
You have Mystic, CT. Then you have New York City and its attractions. Great Adventure in New Jersey, Philadelphia and its attractions, The Hagley Museum in Delaware, Baltimore's Inner Harbor, Washington D.C., The Rich, ond Braves ballpark right off I-95 in Richmond, VA. King's Dominion Theme Park is nearby. South of the Border, Savannah, GA with its historic district (Do not miss!), If you want a real smalltown charming experience, try St. Marys, which is 6 miles east of I-95 exit #3 in GA. It has a historic district with shops and museums. The district fronts on the St. Marys River, which forms the border between GA and FL. Fort Clinch State Park in extreme north FL. There are tons of state parks along your route. Many contain historic sites. They are very good value and low budget.
Things to stock up on: Electronic Yahtzee for everybody eligible (that's been a life safer for me, as I'm recovering from some health issues); patato chips (if you have Pringles in your area, they have low oil and come in airtight containers. I THINK they also make Munchos like that); grapes, grapefruit slices, oranges, bacon sandwiches, sausage biscuit sandwiches, 3 liter soft drinks of choice. Go to: www@expedia.com for travel information. Good luck to you!

| What is the independent travel which I plan and I realise? - Independent travel for me it: independence, a freedom in choosing and decision-making. It is responsibility which lies on me and only on me. Is a way to experience the country, to size up it without relying on luster of tourist magazines, being in private with way of life: people, meal, binge, dances, the nature... |
